Administrator 172
If you want to buy a real high-end graphics card, you don't primarily look at your wallet, but primarily at the performance and features. Here, the Gigabyte Aorus GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Xtreme Waterforce can convincingly score in the test which leaves little left for the competition. However, so many features have their price: For the model, you can dig deep into your pocket with over 1,300 euros. Gigabyte Aorus GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Xtreme Waterforce Review The Aorus GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Xtreme Waterforce relies on the TU102 GPU in full expansion and Gigabyte delivers the card again slightly overclocked compared to the reference model. The Aorus boost clock is 1,770 MHz, while the reference card's clock frequency is 1,545 MHz and Nvidia own Founders Edition is 1,635 MHz. For this reason, the Gigabyte Aorus GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Xtreme Waterforce delivers more power than the competition we have tested so far, for example the Palit GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Dual with 11GByte GDDR6 VRAM. However, the structure of the graphics cards is the same for the other elements, board partner Gigabyte cannot influence more than cooling and overclocking. The well-known Turing architecture remains the basis. This is why 4,352 shaders ("CUDA Cores") are also responsible for the graphic calculations in the Gigabyte Aorus. In addition, the 352-bit memory bus with a corresponding transfer rate ensures a bandwidth of 616 GB per second in order to fully utilize the 11 GB GDDR6-VRAM. This already achieved excellent 5,167 points in the 3DMark Time Spy Extreme, while the Gigabyte graphics card clearly tops it with 5,428 points. A similar picture emerges in the gaming benchmarks, especially in the UHD resolution. Because here the gigabyte is always a few frames per second ahead of the competition. For example with Shadow of the Tomb Raider, in which the Gigabyte reached an average of 68 and the Palit 63 FPS. The same goes for the GTA V benchmark and here we measure 99 to 93 FPS in favor of the Gigabyte Aorus GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Xtreme Waterforce. One of the reasons for purchasing an RTX graphics card is, in addition to performance, the two features DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) and ray tracing. However, the two options are only slowly gaining acceptance in the game industry, so the number of games that support them is manageable. The figurehead should still be Battlefield V and Shadow of the Tom Raider also joins here. Otherwise, many development teams react rather cautiously to these two new technical possibilities. Low temperatures, but not as quiet as a whisper Gigabyte has given its Aorus GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Xtreme Waterforce, as the name suggests, its own water cooling. Nevertheless, the graphics card did not turn out to be quiet in our test. For example, our measurements showed an average of 3.1 sons under full load in 3D operation in comparison, the air-cooled Palit GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Dual achieved 2.8 sones in the same test run. Both are acceptable values. On the other hand, the Gigabyte Aorus has the lead in terms of temperature development, thanks to the water cooling, we measure a maximum value of 59 degrees Celsius. In return, water cooling and performance ensure a high power consumption of 443 watts and thus one of the highest values of our cards tested so far. Due to the large buffer in the cooling performance, we played around a little with the overclocking and once again significantly accelerated the Waterforce: We increased the base clock from 1,350 MHz to 1,506 MHz and the boost from 1,770 MHz to 1,928 MHz. For example, this brought us another 5 FPS on average in Far Cry V in 4K resolution, and in The Division 2 another 3 FPS. So if you like to experiment a bit and if efficiency is not so important, you can get a noticeable gain in performance here. Despite the water cooling, the Gigabyte Aorus GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Xtreme Waterforce occupies two slots in a desktop PC. The fans included in the scope of delivery are there, among other things, to blow the warm exhaust air outside and must be installed accordingly in the housing. After installation, you have three DisplayPorts in version 1.4, three HDMI 2.0b ports and a USB Type-C connection including VirtualLink at your disposal. That is enough connection options for a multi-monitor setup or the connection to a VR headset. In addition, parts of the graphics card and the fans are RGB-illuminated and can be configured using the Gigabyte Fusion software. GTX 1080 TI VS. RTX 2080 VS. So it is hardly surprising that the Gigabyte Aorus GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Xtreme Waterforce currently costs around 1,350 euros if you want to buy it. However, this means that it is only 100 euros more expensive than the Palit GeForce RTX 2080 Ti Dual. So if you want a little more power and a water-cooled graphics card in your desktop PC.
