The free Mac OS software TestDisk can restore accidentally deleted partitions and individual files.

The software automatically reads the required information from your BIOS and then analyzes the hard drive structure. The partition tables are then checked.

If errors are found, TestDisk repairs the affected areas by itself or creates new partition tables.

Also included is the PhotoRec rescue software, which restores deleted videos and photos from memory cards. To do this, after starting the software, it displays a console window with all the drives connected to the Mac OS computer, including memory cards.

This is how it works: Now mark the medium and set under "File Opt" which formats PhotoRec should search for. "Quit" then takes you back to the main display. To restore the photos now, click "Search". After setting the system type, browse the media for files. With another click on "Search" PhotoRec will restore the deleted photos.
