How Good ACDSee Video Studio

Recommended Posts

ACDsee - a simple video editing with weird innovations. The new version of ACDSee's video studio proves to be as suitable for beginners as its predecessor. Even more interesting are the numerous effects, editing options and additional functions with which you can now spice up your videos spectacularly.

ACDSee Video Studio 4 is the program for video editing for users who want to implement creative ideas without encountering major obstacles during operation. Video editing is usually not entirely trivial, but ACDSee is as helpful as possible for users. Highlights of the new version are some interesting effects that lift your video above the mundane. The standard price of a good 100 euros seems appropriate to us.

Advantage

  • Easy handling
  • Good range of functions
  • Creative design options

Disadvantage

  • English tutorial videos only

Uncomplicated handling
The video software Video Studio 4 combines simple operation with a practical, but not necessarily outstanding range of functions. Right from the start, the interface impresses with its clear, catchy structure, which also enables beginners to quickly achieve an appealing result.

Anyone who has never worked with software for video editing will probably still have a quick look at the online documentation or the PDF manual. Unfortunately, both representations are comparatively short. For many beginners, this might be a bit too short for the rather complex topic.

The new version focuses on original creative modules
The program itself not only offers the basic possibilities of modern editing software, i.e. shortening individual clips, combining several clips with transition effects or adding and editing sound tracks. The video studio also has some special features to offer. Clips can be rotated on three axes or output as an animated GIF and you can reduce or accelerate the playback speed almost at will (although you should make sure that the Anglo-Saxon notation is used here for the necessary numbers, i.e. about 0.5 instead of 0.5).

For example, the new version now also supports chroma key, which means that any solid color can be removed from a clip with just a few clicks of the mouse. Not only are interesting overlay effects possible, but also green screen or blue screen recordings. So you can shoot a person first and later replace the background with any pictures or films.

Color effects and animated image sections
Targeted color corrections are also possible thanks to the new color LUTs. Using these lookup tables, you can globally replace a certain color tone in the entire recording or in a selected section with any other one. A new addition is a mosaic filter that blurs certain areas of a clip in order to make sensitive content such as faces unrecognizable (however, motion tracking is not possible). This can of course just as well be used as a design element. With the new overlay function, effects such as a countdown, snowfall, artificial scratches and much more can be added to a clip.

The animations, with which clips can be tilted to the side during playback, also offer interesting design options. The remaining area of the window then turns black and can be used, for example, to overlay other clips.

The video editing program as a video recorder
Finally, the program also includes a recorder that can be started either directly from the program or separately. This not only uses the webcam as an input device. The recorder works just as well as a screencast module. It records all processes on the screen and can be used for documentation or video tutorials. Recordings of all kinds of games that the gamer can then present on social media including comments are likely to be more popular.

The Video Studio 4 is currently only available as a download from the ACDSee site itself, but the price has just been reduced by more than half and is only 45.95 euros, initially until May 6th. But it has already been extended. In addition to this standard version, there are also various subscription and package options.

ACDsee Alternative
Magix Video Deluxe 2020 Plus is also currently reduced in price but is still slightly above the ACDSee candidate. That corresponds to his slightly different concept. Magix is aimed at ambitious users who already have some experience with video editing. These users are offered a higher level of functionality that extends further into the professional field. Magix, for example, has excellent image stabilization for self-made videos; on the other hand, more resources are required for complex tasks. Your hardware equipment should therefore be up to date.
