HP OfficeJet Pro 9012 – Versatile all-in-one printer at a portable price

The high speed, the feature-rich scanner, a large paper feeder and work results that were unbeatable in the test make the HP OfficeJet Pro 9012 a useful work tool in small offices.

OfficeJet Pro 9012 Review: Extensive equipment with top scanner

Because of the comparatively low price, it is also a serious option for private households as long as no special value is placed on photo printing.

The OfficeJet Pro 9012 offers one of the best and most extensive features on our list of the best. A special highlight is the scanner.

It not only offers two-sided scanning of your documents (duplex), but can also search them for texts using the Smart Tasks and thus create a document that can be searched and edited with the corresponding PDF readers.

The storage location of the scans is flexible, the selection ranges from direct printing to a USB storage device, e-mail or cloud services such as Dropbox or OneDrive.

The scan function can also be used for the integrated fax machine. Memory for up to 100 pages is available for this function, as well as fax forwarding, delayed sending, redialing and speed dialing.

The printer has a 250-sheet input tray, a 60-sheet output bin and an automatic document feeder (ADF) for 35 sheets of paper. You can also print from your mobile devices using the HP Smart app.

The OfficeJet uses four individual cartridges for printing, the fill level of which is checked by the printer and reordered automatically if necessary.

Cheaper alternative cartridges from third-party suppliers will of course also work, provided you have chosen well The printer has a tiltable color touchscreen on the front left for device settings and management of print jobs.

Send text documents, quickly printed

The print quality of the OfficeJet Pro 9012 is one of the best that can be found in the best list. Both text and graphics appear sharp and rich in contrast at a resolution of 4,800 x 1,200 dpi, whereby the ink consumption is not excessively high and can even be set variably.

The copier also does a good job, only photo prints are not optimal. We have seen that better, for example with the Epson Expression Photo XP-8600.

Despite the high quality, the printer does not take too much time for its work. The difficult first page lies in the output tray after 10 seconds, after which the HP ejects a decent 16.8 black and white printed pages per minute, the current best value.

In view of the good quality, that’s all the more impressive. The more complex graphics and photos naturally take longer (1:06 and 1:08 minutes per page).

The copying speed is also high: the printer captures text copies after just nine seconds, but a detailed photo scan can take 1:50 minutes. If you are not in a hurry, you can use the silent mode to request a slower pressure with a reduced volume.
