New Razer HyperPolling Technology Debuts in the World’s Fastest Gaming Mouse

Razer™, the world’s leading lifestyle brand for gamers, announces the new proprietary Razer HyperPolling technology. It makes its debut in the new Razer Viper 8KHz, the world’s first esports gaming mouse with a true 8,000 Hz polling rate.

Razer HyperPolling: The fastest gaming mouse

Razer HyperPolling technology surpasses the current industry standard of 1,000 Hz with a true 8,000 Hz polling rate for performance in the blink of an eye, heralding a new era in gaming responsiveness, speed and reliability.

Current gaming mouse support a query rate of up to 1,000 Hz. While manufacturers focus on higher precision and responses from mice, the frequency with which the clicks and position data are transmitted to the PC has rarely been discussed.

With faster PCs and higher monitor refresh rates, higher polling rates can prevent micro-stuttering in order to significantly increase gaming performance and this is important in situations where a fraction of a second makes the difference between victory and defeat.

“Latency plays an important role in gameplay and affects the entire gaming experience. So far, this part has received little attention in favor of higher DPI numbers.

Unlike the DPI, casual gamers through to professional gamers benefit from lower latencies, as it saves important milliseconds in response time, ”said Alvin Cheung, senior vice president of Razer’s Peripherals Business Unit.”

During the tests and the development process with a large number of e-athletes and mouse enthusiasts, many of them have confirmed a noticeably smoother and faster input with the HyperPolling technology of the new Viper 8K Hz e-sport gaming mouse.”

At least 8x faster: The technology behind the speed

The polling rate is the frequency at which a device sends signals to the PC, the current industry standard is up to 1,000 Hz, which corresponds to 1,000 signals per second.

Razer’s HyperPolling technology uses a high-speed USB microcontroller to surpass this standard with a true polling rate of 8,000 Hz. As a result, the Viper 8K Hz sends up to eight times as much data per second, which reduces the input delay from 1 ms to 1/8 millisecond.

Razer’s HyperPolling technology sends even more accurate signals to correlate with the high refresh rates of monitors. As a result, the delay between the last signal sent and the image displayed on the monitor is significantly lower than with a conventional 1,000 Hz polling rate, which results in a smoother and more precise position display of the mouse pointer.

Higher polling rates can reduce the input delay, minimize micro-stuttering and prevent sudden jumps in the position of the mouse pointer. The result is smoother and more precise cursor movements on the screen.

Razer HyperPolling technology not only offers the lowest click latency, but also keeps click-to-click deviation to an absolute minimum and this makes it better compared to other leading gaming technologies.

“The technology is perfect for games like CS: GO that require high precision and speed of reaction,” CS: GO star player from Evil Geniuses. Nikolay “Nikobaby” Nikolov from the Dota2-Team Alliance confirms this because he “would immediately notice the difference between 1,000Hz and 8,000Hz”.

Viper 8K Hz outperforms the competition

The Viper 8K Hz is the first Razer peripheral with Razer HyperPolling technology and thus combines three of the most important innovations in one device to represent the world’s fastest gaming mouse for competitive competition.

The 2nd generation of Razer’s optical mouse switches and the Razer Focus + Optical Sensor in combination with Razer’s HyperPolling technology deliver a gaming mouse with incomparable speed, precision and response time.

The 2nd generation of Razer Optical Mouse Switches has better tactile feedback, so every click feels and sounds better. Unlike conventional mechanical switches, there is no debounce delay.

The resulting activation at the speed of light, together with the HyperPolling technology, offers the lowest input latency, so that gamers can achieve reaction times on a professional level. With up to 70 million clicks, the 2nd generation of Razer Optical Mouse Switches is not only ultra-fast, but is also extremely durable.

The Razer Focus + Optical sensor has an industry-leading 99.6% resolution accuracy, so that even the most delicate movements are implemented with great precision. Thanks to their unique intelligent sensor functions together with HyperPolling technology, gamers enjoy smooth, jerk-free mouse pointer tracking for the best precision and the decisive hit in the game.

First class performance. In every detail

This groundbreaking performance and technology are encased in a rugged, ambidextrous case weighing just 71g. The Viper 8K Hz has 100% PTFE mouse sliders for smooth movements and the Razer SpeedFlex cable for minimal cable pull and fluid movements without tangled cables.

Thanks to Razer Synapse 3, gamers can reassign eight programmable keys and define macros or secondary functions. In addition, profile configurations can be stored on the advanced on-board memory. Users can access their personal settings anywhere and at any time using up to five storage profiles.
