Xerox Workcentre 6515DN – Excellent, but higher printing costs

With three top marks, the Xerox Workcentre 6515DN secured first place on our best list of color laser printers. In addition to the excellent print quality and great ergonomics.

Xerox Workcentre 6515DN Review

We particularly liked the extensive equipment in the test. In addition, the laser printer works very quickly, which is why it is well suited for medium-sized and large offices in which a lot is printed. However, the running costs could be lower.

Xerox Workcentre 6515DN in the test: faster and more beautiful printing

In the hectic day-to-day office, there are two main features of a color laser printer: the print quality and the print speed. The Xerox Workcentre 6515DN is both at a very high level.

The printer prints pure text as well as graphics and images with a resolution of up to 1,200 x 2,400 dpi without disturbing toner mist and without visible blurring.

The grayscale is rich in detail and the colored elements are pleasantly homogeneous. It looks similar with copies, there are almost no falsifications compared to the original. For this we give the best value in the area of print quality.

In contrast to models with similarly good quality like the  Samsung Xpress C1860FW, the Xerox Workcentre does not need what feels like forever to print.

On the contrary: With around 15 pages per minute in black and white, the Xerox is one of the fastest multifunctional devices in the test, graphics can be printed in around 15 seconds.

The copying speed is not quite as high, but it is also sufficient for everyday office use. You have to wait 11 seconds for a black and white copy and 13 seconds for a color copy.

Xerox Workcentre 6515DN DISPLAY

The Xerox Workcentre 6515DN receives its print jobs either via the USB 3.0 port or via network, to which the printer can be connected via LAN or (optionally retrofittable) via WLAN.

After a short and simple setup, all essential business functions such as scan-to-email, copying via ID card and scan-to-USB are available.

A fax machine is also on board. For quick copies, there is a practical RADF, i.e. an automatic document feeder with a turning function, for up to 50 sheets. The existing paper cassette holds a total of 250 sheets; an extension of an additional 550 sheets is possible.

Xerox Workcentre 6515DN is a bit expensive in the long run

At just under 330 euros, the purchase price for the Xerox Workcentre 6515DN is in the normal range. The real costs only come with time: a printed page in black and white costs an impressive 2.5 cents. An average of 14.9 cents is due for a color page.

For comparison: With the Kyocera Ecosys M5526cdn, a page costs only 1.6 cents (black and white) or 10.7 cents (color) so it is much cheaper.

Even so, the Xerox Workcentre’s printing costs are still average when compared to the other devices on our leaderboard. So they are by no means a reason for exclusion from purchasing.

Advantages:

  • Very good print quality
  • Brisk work pace
  • Extensive equipment

Disadvantage:

  • Printing costs a little too high
